Saul Bass worked as a Graphic Designer, Title Designer, and Film Director in the 20th century. He is most notable for his minimalist style he uses in his posters. He only uses 3-5 colors and around 1-3 elements from the movie in his posters. I myself love minimalist style and try to convey it in a lot of my work. Below are some of Saul Bass's works.
Over the pass week or two I have been working on a movie poster. I chose to do "Psycho" by Alfred Hitchcock because I love the movie and I love some of his other works too. Our only limitations was we had to base our movie poster off the works of Saul Bass.

Wow Michael! Love this post. Hitchcock, though he is know for c-rate horror movies, is actually one of the world's top directors based on how he changed the way we see and think about film. I grew up on this stuff and also inspired much of my direction as a photographer at KCAI.
ReplyDeleteYour poster is simple, to the point, and reflects the spirit of the movie. Well done!
Love your poster idea Mike! Your use of color really conveyed a good message and got the point of the movie across. Very simplistic yet give you enough information to understand what the movie is about. Great work!
